About us
Our initiative aims to redefine the relationship between the city and the forest: we connect forest managers, chefs, winemakers, producers, and tourism service providers so that the natural treasures of the Bükk appear on the plate as both a visual and a culinary experience.
The Edible Forest and the Forest Gastroexpress are experiential programs that connect the forest, people, and flavors, while sharing knowledge and building a community. They are sustainable, active, eco-friendly, and gastronomic all at once.
The three pillars of the Forest Gastroexpress
The Forest Gastroexpress is a new dimension of gastronomic journeys, traveling through the forests of the Bükk on the trains of the Lillafüred State Forest Railway. During the experience, you will taste the forest while learning about its history, ecology, and cultural significance.

Gyula Bózsó, the creator of the Edible Forest – Forest Gastroexpress program
In December 2025, Gyula Bózsó was awarded the title of Ambassador of the City of Bükk (article).
The appointment was presented by József Tóth-Szántai, Mayor of Miskolc, recognizing the professional work that strengthens the connection between Miskolc and the Bükk in a new quality by linking forest management, sustainability, and tourism.
The Edible Forest program, born in Miskolc, has now received international attention: it was included among the top three sustainable tourism initiatives of the Green Destinations Top 100. As a shared story of the city and the Bükk, it demonstrates worldwide how gastronomy, active tourism, and respect for the natural environment can be combined in an innovative way.
